December 6 is the day the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya. On the same day, the MLA announced that construction of a mosque would begin in the Muslim-majority district of Murshidabad, adding to the tension. Kabir said that the construction of the mosque is his religious right and the demand of the locals. However, bringing up the issue of Babri Masjid by the ruling party MLA as the elections are approaching has put the TMC in trouble. With this, TMC is away from these comments.

TMC Chief Whip in Bengal Assembly Nirmal Ghosh said that the party has nothing to do with Humayun Kabir, the party has nothing to do with his comments and actions, whatever he says is his personal matter. Another senior leader said that TMC will take disciplinary action against Kabir. Despite Kabir’s many controversial comments and actions, the TMC has still not suspended him from the party. Meanwhile, BJP responded to this. The BJP accused the TMC of doing this for the sake of votes in the elections.
