Save Trees Maharashtra: Veteran actor Sayaji Shinde was furious over the state government’s decision to cut down thousands of trees in Panchvati and Tapovanam areas of Maharashtra. He made these comments addressing Kumbh Mela Minister Girish Mahajan not to make fun of the people of Nashik by cutting trees. However, the state government has decided to construct dormitories for sadhus in Panchavati and Tapovana by next year’s Kumbh Mela. Tenders worth Rs 220 crore have been invited for these works.

However, the Nashik Municipal Corporation has decided to cut down 1,825 trees in a total of 35 acres in Panchvati and Tapovana. Environmentalists have been protesting against this decision for the last 8 days. As part of these protests, environmentalist and actor Sayaji Shinde visited Tapovana on Saturday and strongly opposed the felling of trees there. He asked them not to cut trees and destroy the environment.
