Gill vs Rohit: Former cricketer Manoj Tiwary has suggested that the BCCI should immediately change its decision regarding the captaincy of the Indian ODI team. They demanded that Shubman Gill be removed from the captaincy duties and Rohit Sharma be appointed again. He noted that there is still time for a “course correction” with the 2027 World Cup in mind. However, in October 2025, Shubman Gill took over as the ODI captain in place of Rohit Sharma.. But India lost the two ODI series played under his leadership so far.. Gill’s captaincy debut was in Australia.. India suffered a heavy defeat in that series.. After that, Gill missed the series against South Africa at home. Also, after India lost in the recent ODI series against New Zealand, there is severe criticism on Gill.

However, former cricketer Manoj Tiwary told InsideSport.. Our target is 2027 World Cup. He said that there is still a possibility of changing the decision keeping it in mind. If Rohit Sharma was the captain, the result of the New Zealand series would have been different, he said. I have faith in Rohit’s leadership.. He reminded me that the team was moving in the right direction when they won the Champions Trophy. It is clear that Rohit Sharma is a much better captain compared to Shubman Gill. That is why he is so successful. Tiwari suggested that the World Cup can be won even under Gill’s leadership.. but the captaincy of both should be compared.

If asked, Manoj Tiwari said that if Rohit is there, there will be 85 to 90 percent chance of winning. Meanwhile, Manoj Tiwari said that the time has come for the BCCI to take a key decision keeping in mind the future of the Indian ODI team. He expressed the opinion that if Rohit Sharma is appointed as the captain again, the chances of the Indian team in the 2027 World Cup will be strengthened.
