Telangana Local Body Elections: Preparations for local bodies elections in Telangana are fast progressing for 2024. Officials have already prepared the field to finalize the reservation of village panchayats, zonal wards, sarpanch and MPTC seats. District collectors are monitoring the process at the behest of Ramakrishna Rao, the general secretary of the state government.
Telangana Local Body Elections Preparations
On Monday (September 22), a meeting with collectors and dignitaries was held and the reservation guidelines were discussed. Based on information received from the Panchayati Raj Directorate, the village secretaries submitted the details of the SC, ST, BC, OC and women’s population in their villages to MPDOs.
According to the 2011 census, SC, ST and women’s reservation were finalized. The BC reservation was decided based on the social, economic, education, employment and caste survey conducted in 2024. The state government has to issue GO (Government Order) to increase BC reservation to 42%. The final reservation list will be officially announced after the release of the bio.
The responsibility of the JPPTC and MPP reservation has been handed over to the Panchayati Raj Director and the process is confidential. The full details come out after the bio is emitted on the BC reservation increase. Clear roadmap will be formed for local bodies elections after the reservation process is completed, and the public will be clear.
