YISU : The Government’s ‘Young India Skills University’ (YISU) has crossed a key milestone with the aim of eradicating unemployment in the state of Telangana and preparing the youth for the global market. Not just degrees, this university is achieving excellent results by imparting skills as per the needs of industries. The University has shown remarkable results in its inception. By December 2025, more than 1000 students have been trained in various fields. Achieving this level of target in such a short period of time in the field of skill education is unique in the country.

The foundation stone of this university was laid on August 1, 2024 as per the special wish of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The Chief Minister is acting as the Chancellor of this institution which is run on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system. Industrial giant Anand Mahindra as chairman of the board, Dr. V.L.V.S.S. Subbarao is leading the university on the path of success as Vice Chancellor. Presently, the university, which is temporarily located in IIIT Hyderabad, is taking shape of a permanent campus in Kandukuru Mandal – Future City. In 57.8 acres.. 43 hi-tech class rooms, 600-bed hostel, state-of-the-art labs in an area of ​​84 thousand square feet. The government has promised to complete the construction of Phase-1 by March 2026.

The University is not limited to just theory, but focuses on areas that are in demand in the market. Aim for Logistics, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharma, Banking (BFSI), Information Science. Famous companies like Microsoft, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, AIG, Apollo Hospitals, GMR Cargo are providing internships and practical training to the students.

The main purpose of this university is not to distribute certificates but to get jobs. That is why students are trained through short term and certification courses. Plans are in place to start full-fledged degree and PG courses from the academic year 2026-27. Young India Skills University has become a reassurance to the youth who are in despair that “Degree in hand but no job”. With the participation of industry, this government-run organization is sure to make Telangana the ‘Capital of Skills’ in the future.
