Former Sarpanch of Nekkonda Sontireddy Yamuna Reddy and former Sarpanch of Pattipaka Lavudya Sarita have filed a lunch motion petition seeking to establish a municipality in Nekkonda mandal of Warangal district. In the hearing on this petition, the court issued orders to recognize Nekkonda Major Gram Panchayat as a municipality. Warangal district currently has three municipalities namely Wardhannapet, Narsampet and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation. If Nekkonda is declared as a municipality, the total number will go up to four.
