Sheikh Hasina: Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister after violent student protests last year and fled India. However, Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Sheikh Hasina to death for causing many deaths in the riots and committing several acts against humanity. In this context, Bangladesh is asking India to hand over Hasina.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said on Wednesday that Bangladesh has once again made a fresh request for Sheikh Hasina’s extradition. External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this. “They received a request. We are considering this request as part of ongoing legal and internal legal processes. We are committed to the interests of the people of Bangladesh. We will continue to participate constructively in this matter with all stakeholders for peace and democracy in that country,” he said.
