In Pinapaka constituency of Bhadradri district, there is a rift between former MLA Rega Kantha Rao and current MLA Payam Venkateswara Rao. This has been the thread since the formation of Telangana.
Rega Kantha Rao was elected as MLA twice from Pinapaka. Payam Venkateswara Rao became an MLA three times from three parties. Rega, on the other hand, went to the Assembly twice from the Congress. Both of them faced each other in this constituency which is reserved for ST. Sometimes everyone is winning. Now the party office is rife between them.
Pinapaka Congress Party office was constructed earlier as Manugur center. For this, Kilaru Shetty Haribabu’s father gave four kuntals of land to the Congress party office. After the construction, Satyam, who was then president of the joint Khammam District Congress, inaugurated it. After that, Rega Kantarao won the 2018 election from Congress and then joined BRS, where along with the post of Whip, he acted as the president of Bhadradri District Party. But after defecting from the party, Rega Kantarao took the party office with him. Anand Bhatti Vikramarka, Renuka Chaudhary, Seethakka and Podem Veeraya protested against this but to no avail. It has since then become the office of BRS.
By 2023, Payam Venkateswara Rao had been in BRS till then and jumped into Congress. Soon Payam won as Congress MLA. After winning from the Congress, efforts are being made to reclaim the office which was once the office of the Congress. A few days ago, Congress workers attacked and occupied Pinapaka BRS office together. How it was converted into BRS office then… Today same office has been converted into Congress office. Locals say that today the police are limited to the role of spectators.
Along with party working president KTR, Rega Kantha Rao and Sandravenkataweeraiah are alleging that they illegally occupied the office of the party. Rega Kantha Rao’s allegation that attempts were being made to go ahead and kill him caused a stir. The leaders of both the parties are claiming that the building is theirs. This affair eventually led to tension.
But the officials there have to clarify who the original party office belongs to.. Back then when BRS was in power the officials waved their hands towards BRS. On the whole, the dispute over the party office has become a dispute between the two parties and between the two leaders. In the peaceful Manugur, it erupted. But the hint is that the three ministers of the district are not talking about the party office leak.
