Bangladesh: Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister of Bangladesh and fled to India. Mohammad Yunus became the provisional ruler of Bangla after a violent student movement. Ever since he assumed power, he has become a pawn in the hands of fanatics. By sticking with organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami, he is fostering fanaticism across Bangladesh. Recently, the government led by Mohammad Yunus canceled the posts of music, dance and PET teachers in primary schools.

Yunus, who had previously aimed to bring cultural education such as music and dance as part of the primary school curriculum along with religious and academic subjects, now bowed to pressure from Islamists. Yunus took a U-turn due to intense pressure on the government from Islamist groups calling music and dance as an “anti-Islamic agenda”. The appointment of these teachers was vehemently opposed by many religious groups in Bangladesh.
“When we studied religious education as children, we had separate teachers for Hindus and Muslims. We studied under them. But now, do you want to hire music teachers? What do they teach? what do you mean Do you want to make our children disrespectful, clumsy and impersonal? We will never tolerate it,” said Syed Rezal Karim, chief of Islami Andolon Bangladesh. The Deobandi Islamist advocacy group called the government’s move an “anti-Islamic agenda”.
