Change the engine oil and filter
Engine oil thickens in the cold. It is best to replace the engine oil with a new, thinner oil of the correct viscosity for cold weather. If the engine oil is old or the bike needs servicing, change it. Also, change the oil filter. The new oil reaches the engine parts faster, making it easier to start the bike in the morning.
Battery inspection and maintenance
Battery capacity may decrease in the cold. Make sure your battery is fully charged. Clean battery terminals and apply vaseline or grease to prevent corrosion.
Check tire pressure, grip
Cold air lowers tire pressure. Hence, it is important to ensure proper tire pressure. Low pressure reduces mileage. Increases slippage, which can be a safety hazard. Also, check the tread depth of your tires. Good grip on wet and slippery roads is very important in winter.
Brake System Service
Brake cables or fluid freezing or slowing down in cold weather can affect brake performance. So, get your brake pads, brake fluid, cables thoroughly checked and serviced.
Light and Visibility
In winter, fog and early darkness reduce visibility. Check your headlights, taillights, indicators, horn.
Chain cleaning, lubrication
In winter, humidity increases the risk of chain rust. So, clean and lubricate your chain thoroughly. This will extend its lifespan. Provides a smooth ride.
Replace the spark plugs
Old or dirty spark plugs can cause problems starting your bike in the cold. This is a common problem. So, if necessary, replace the spark plugs to ensure proper ignition.
