Chicken Waste Racket: Another big smuggling racket has been exposed in Hyderabad. The police came to the notice of a gang that was selling chicken waste generated in poultry units in Attapur directly to fishmongers in Ongole and Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh instead of taking it to the GHMC rendering plant. This waste, which would normally go to a rendering plant for cleaning and processing, is illegally crossing state borders for gang profits.

A voluntary organization kept a vigil on these illegal activities and informed the police about suspicious lorries leaving from Attapur area. Immediately alerted, the police started special checks at the check posts on the Telangana-AP border. When the lorries full of chicken waste were stopped and inspected, it was confirmed that they were being transported without permission and without any hygiene regulations.
According to the police, some traders are buying this waste in large quantities to use it in making fish feed. Without the knowledge of the GHMC officials, the gang members are transporting this waste to the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and making huge money. The health department has warned that this may have a serious impact on public health. The police have stepped up their investigation to find out who else is involved in this smuggling network.
