Off The Record: Shinganamala is one of the constituencies that has been a problem for the Telugu Desam Party since the beginning. Not now…. There is no consensus here for the last seven years.. The activists are not satisfied. Whether the party is in power or not, it has become the same fight. The main reason for that is to give a ticket to Bandaru Shravani before the 2019 elections, according to the local cadre. Some have opposed Shravani’s leadership from the beginning. In the course of these quarrels, many constituency leaders have brought to the attention of the leadership that they should not give her a ticket even before the 2024 elections. But…as there was no alternative…in the end Bandaru Shravan made the final TDP leadership. It was thought that everything would be set after she won the election. But the situation has not changed at all.. it has become more advanced. Here the situation has changed by counting three groups per zone. The situation of the party has become as if they are Yamunathi. Party’s National General Secretary Lokesh and leader Chandrababu too have taken initiative many times to fix this, but no use. Moreover, MLA Shravani and other leaders are afraid to hold party meetings here.
Excessive independence, hegemonic tendencies and factions in the party all combine to create an atmosphere of confusion. Generally… if someone wants to organize a workers’ meeting, it is held in one of the mandals of the constituency or in the constituency center. But… strangely any meeting related to lions is held.. in Anantapuram town, Anduna….and.B Guest House is held as a venue. Whether it is the committee members from the top, the in-charge minister or any other key leaders… Carafe R&B Guest House. Well…. If a meeting is held somewhere…even if they want to fix it somehow, it is questionable whether the leaders will listen to the grievances of the activists. Whenever there is a meeting, some quarrel has become common. A recent meeting held by the in-charge minister Bharat led to tensions. In front of the in-charge minister, MLA Shravani and leaders of other communities said that Dhi means Dhi.
Like this… every time there is a fight, finally the police enter and arrest the TDP workers and take them away. Recently, the selection process of the party committees for the constituency was done. MLC Rangopal Reddy and MLA Bandaru organized this program on R&B stage. But… the police stopped some of the leaders from even entering. Once again there was a ruckus in the meeting. Telugu Desam Party is said to be a party that gives preference to activists. But in Shinganamala, the situation is completely different. Whenever meetings are held… they are in police circle. Party leaders often say that workers are the strength of the party and all decisions should be made in the presence of workers. The TDP cadre is adamant that nothing like that is being worked out here. The demands of the party leaders are that the party chiefs should pay serious attention to the conditions of this constituency and still hold meetings in the presence of the workers in the mandal centers and select the party committees.
