Another typhoon is looming to the south. Cyclone Senyar is heading south. The Meteorological Department said that the severe depression formed over the Strait of Malacca has strengthened into Typhoon ‘Sanyar’ on Wednesday. With this, heavy rains will occur across South India, the IMD said.

It is expected that the typhoon will retain its strength for 24 hours and then gradually weaken. The IMD said that due to the cyclone, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh and Yanam will receive heavy rains in the coming days. Meanwhile, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram and Nagapatnam districts of Tamil Nadu are facing floods due to rains.
Heavy to very heavy rains will occur in Andaman and Nicobar Islands between November 23-28. Rainfall of 105-204 mm is likely in 24 hours. Wind speed is expected to be 35–45 kmph.
Officials have warned fishermen not to go fishing as the sea will be rough. He said that these warnings will remain till November 28. Residents of low-lying areas are advised to be vigilant.
