YS Jagan: YSRCP leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy has made it clear to the party MPs that they should fight hard in the parliament for the realization of Andhra Pradesh’s rights in the context of the serious crisis faced by the farmers in the state. He issued these directions in a review meeting with the MPs at the camp office in Tadepalli ahead of the Parliament sessions that will begin on Monday.

Jagan said that Cyclone ‘Montha’ has caused huge destruction in the coastal districts, crops have been destroyed in lakhs of acres and the farmers have suffered losses. He expressed deep regret that the central and state governments have failed to help them. He criticized that in the past, his government directly purchased crops through RBKs and provided minimum support price, but now that system has been weakened, the oppression of middlemen has started again.

Jagan said that the support price of major crops like rice, maize, millet, cotton, kandi, banana, chilli and mango has fallen and farmers are suffering from debt. He suggested that these issues should be strongly mentioned in the Parliament and emergency relief funds should be released immediately and pressure should be put on the Center to give legal guarantee to the MSP.

Stating that free crop insurance was provided to the farmers without burden of premium during his regime, Jagan criticized that the present government has stopped the scheme and the farmers are suffering heavy losses during natural calamities. He said that input subsidies are not being received and with the suspension of e-crop registration, opportunities to get compensation have also disappeared for the farmers. He accused the government of disappointing the pepper and mango farmers.

Further, Jagan expressed anger over the cancellation of a huge number of employment guarantee job cards, including 18.63 lakh in the state. He said that the rural families are directly losing their livelihood due to this and the MPs should demand immediate renewal of the job cards of those who are eligible and payment of pending wages.

He called upon the party MPs to strongly oppose the attempts to divide Visakhapatnam steel plant and hand it over to private companies. He suggested that the center should be demanded to protect the livelihood of thousands of workers by allocating their own mines to the plant.

Jagan stated that law and order has deteriorated in the state, the achievements of political parties have increased and the lack of minimum facilities for students in welfare hostels is serious. It was again made clear to the MPs that they should fight hard on the platform of Parliament for the funds to come to Andhra Pradesh, protection of people’s rights and employment opportunities.
