2026 New Year celebrations, party, music, friends, vibes all feel right. But there is a mistake that can turn what starts out as fun in these celebrations into a health hazard. This mistake is.. drinking alcohol on an empty stomach. Many people often say, “Let’s drink first, eat later”. In fact, it may seem like a small thing to everyone, but from the point of view of health professionals, they say that it has many bad effects on the body.
Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach not only causes intoxication but also directly attacks many vital organs. Experts say that its immediate effects include dizziness, vomiting, and anxiety, while it can also lead to long-term damage to the liver, stomach, and brain. It is explained that these five body parts are mostly affected by this mistake.
1. Brain
Experts say that if you drink without eating, it slows down the absorption of alcohol in the body. It is said that the alcohol then enters the brain along with the blood, which damages the communication channels. It has been warned that it can rapidly affect thinking, coordination, and memory, and that continued practice can lead to blurred vision and permanent neurological damage.
2. Liver
The main organ that metabolizes alcohol is the liver. But it can only process a limited amount of drink at a time. But sudden consumption of large amounts of alcohol on an empty stomach can increase liver capacity. This causes toxic acetaldehyde to accumulate in the liver. It causes liver inflammation and cell damage. Experts warn that this increases the risk of liver disease, hepatitis and cirrhosis.
3. Heart
Medical experts say that excessive alcohol consumption can temporarily increase blood pressure and heart rate. This can lead to arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats). Long-term heavy drinking can lead to cardiomyopathy (weakness of the heart muscle), high blood pressure, and stroke, it has been warned.
4. Stomach
Health experts say that alcohol actually irritates the lining of the stomach. On an empty stomach, alcohol comes into direct contact with sensitive mucous membranes, causing stomach irritation, inflammation (gastritis), increased acid production, and the risk of ulcers and bleeding.
5. Pancreas
Alcohol is said to cause the pancreas to produce toxins. Doctors warn that this can lead to a painful, dangerous inflammation of the pancreas called acute pancreatitis, a condition that can be fatal if it persists for a long time.
